"My end goal is that Council does the basics brilliantly, we can live good lives

and ratepayers and community get value for money."

MY 3 FOCUSES ARE:

Rates Review

  • NO unaffordable rates increases.
  • Smarter spending.
  • Full review of council finances so families, retirees, and businesses can thrive - not struggle.

Infrastructure &
Essential Services

We must match our own growth with well-planned, staged, and financially sustainable infrastructure.
That Includes:
  • Better roads and transport.
  • Facilities for youth and community wellbeing.
  • Improved digital connectivity.
  • Strong advocacy for schools, medical centers, and other essential services.

Crime Prevention & Community Safety

  • Safer road designs and traffic measures.
  • Well-lit public spaces.
  • Collaborating with emergency services and community patrols.
  • Expanding CCTV coverage and promoting safety education.

"I absolutely love Rolleston and Selwyn-a district that stretches from the Alps to the ocean, full of opportunity, lifestyle, and heart."

MY STORY

ABOUT ME (3)_edited.jpg

Kia ora koutou, Hello,
My name is Moneel Pratap, and I’m proud to call Rolleston my home.

Born and raised in Wellington. I’m the eldest of three siblings. We didn’t grow up with much, but
those early years taught me the value of hard work, humility, gratitude, and every cent.
My parents, both of whom migrated from Fiji, worked tirelessly. My mother was a receptionist, my
father was a mechanic, and both my grandfathers were farmers back in Fiji. They were honest,
everyday people who gave what they could so we could have opportunities.

I went to Lyall Bay Kindergarten, Miramar South School, then attending Rongotai College. My first job at age of 14 was the local paperboy delivering the Evening Post, going on to working as a car groomer when I got my restricted drivers license at age 15. I'd just saved enough to buy my first car, a trusty Toyota Corolla.
